Most people, rightly so, associate a wood-burning stove with a heating appliance that warms a room. So, what are the benefits of having a wood-burning stove outdoors? It may surprise some, but there are many advantages to having an outdoor wood-burning stove.

Here are a few benefits to consider:

1. They (still) keep you warm – Not as much as a wood-burning stove in a room, but the heat given out by an outdoor wood-burning stove will still be plenty to create warmth on an evening – ideal when the sun goes down, and the temperature drops a little. Think of it a little like a campfire, but much more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

2. They look (and sound) incredible – There is something very special about seeing dancing flames and hearing the pop and crackle as wood burns in a stove. Outdoors, this back-to-nature feel is even more prominent. Furthermore, an outdoor stove will also provide substantial lighting – which is perfect when huddled with friends well after sunset.

3. They are ready to use all year – The versatility of an outdoor wood-burning stove means you can light it any time of the year. In the summer, they are ideal when relaxing after a BBQ – or just when you want to sit outside in the dark. In the winter, they are a brilliant excuse to sit outside after dark with a hot chocolate! They also make sitting out in the winter a little bit more comfortable – especially if it’s really cold.

4. They are cord-free – with an electric heater, you will need a power cord. Not ideal when you’re sat at the other end of a large garden where no extension cord will reach. The next best alternative is a gas heater, but again, you will have to connect, disconnect, transport and fill up the gas canister. With an outdoor wood-burning-stove you will just light and enjoy!
