If you’re looking at buying a new Ecodesign Wood Burning Stove, you can rest assured that the government do not intend to ban stoves, despite the misleading information in the media stating that they are great polluters.
In 2019 Defra published its Clean Air Strategy. This strategy recognises that wood burning is not all the same and that a significant reduction in emissions can be achieved by fitting an Ecodesign stove. In Chapter 6 of the Clean Air Strategy, the report makes direct reference to this, outlined below:

Educating stoves users on how to burn wood correctly is something Defra is working on closely with our industry.

* Never burn plastic or any waste other than seasoned wood
* Have your flue cleaned by a chimney sweep regularly, depending on usage
