Small is beautiful, too.

Despite the glossy home magazines depicting glorious homes with enormous lounges and huge roaring wood-burning stoves, you don’t actually need any of these to enjoy the charms of a wood-burning stove. There is a range of stoves designed for rooms of all sizes. While you can opt for an 8kW stove, such would be unnecessary in a smaller room. In fact, it would take up excessive space and produce far too much heat.

Regardless of the size of your room, there is a beautiful stove that is perfect for you.

Basic calculation – what stove size do I need?

Measure the room volume you want to fit the stove in. (width x length x height) in metres.
Divide the result by 14.

For example, if you have a small room that is 6 metres wide, 5 metres long and 2.5 metres high, you will do the following calculation – 6 x 5 x 2.5 = 75. Divide 75 by 14 = 5.35. So you would be looking for a stove with around a 5kW output. This is only a general guide – there are other variables, such as how well insulated the room is, how warm you would like your room to be etc. When you have a survey, you will then have a better understanding as to the perfect stove for you.

What small stove options do I have?

A small stove is generally considered to have an output of 4-5kW. Below are just a few examples to whet your appetite. For a full range of our wood-burning stoves, please visit our dedicated stove section.

Fireline 4kW Stove:

This small stove is ideal for a range of smaller rooms, or where you have a limited space to fit it. This attractively designed FX4 is freestanding in design. The large curved door styling offers superb flame pictures, whether you burn wood or other fuels. You can personalise your stove with the optional log store, which provides both a useful place to store your logs whilst enhancing the presence of the stove.

Woodtec 5kW Stove:

Woodtec is a refined and elegant design, combined with powerful ClearSkies Level 5 certified performance.

This 5kW stove is easy to operate with a technically advanced single air control and powerful airwash, each of the stoves in the Woodtec range can be customised with optional stands, log stores and black or oak handles, apart from the new Woodtec style models.

Woodtec 5kW FCS Cylinder Stove:

This is proof you don’t need a large output stove if you want to enjoy the beauty of a cylinder design. The Woodtec FCS Cylinder can also be installed with only 10mm distance to combustibles from the wall at the rear and 25mm at the sides, making it a perfect choice when space is a premium. This stove has an impressive 82.1% efficiency.

Purevision 5kW Stove:

The Purevision 5kW stove is perfect for smaller rooms, where you don’t need the power output of a mighty 8kW stove, which are a popular choice in the Purevision range. You still, however, enjoy the warmth and efficiency that you would associate with an Ecodesign Ready and ClearSkies Level 5 certified stove.

Go Eco Adventurer 5 Stove:

The Adventurer 5 stove was designed for confined spaces, perfect for glamping tents and narrowboats, but it has one incredible benefit: You can also cook on it! This means in tight spaces you can double up your heating with a cooking appliance. It’s not suited for all but for those looking for a stove which you can also cook on nothing else comes close.
